NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) Kaduna State, Rev. Joseph Hayab, has on Sunday assured Nigerians that they  cannot continue to lament as God will favour the nation at Christmas and beyond.

Hayab said Nigerians across board have suffered enough hardship, but hoped and prayed that the season would bring God’s  favour to usher the nation into the new year, while making wise decisions in the 2023 general elections.

The CAN Chairman disclosed this to journalists, during its 2022 Christmas Carols and nine lessons, titled”‘ The Savour Has Come’ at the Albarka Baptist Church, Kaduna, where he further urged Christians to exhibit the message of Christmas and to share love Of Christ to other faiths especially the less- privileged.

CAN Chairman, Rev. Hayab, during the interview

” the message simply is that Mary found favour with God, we believe that God is going to show Nigeria favour, we’ve suffered, we’ve been in pains, but favour is coming, so we are telling Nigerians out there that favor is coming,

” when favour comes it is not because you merit it, when favour comes is not because you are a strategist, when favour comes, It’s not because you are powerful, Nigerians have suffered and God is about to favour them,

” the night Mary went to sleep, she didn’t know that the angel of God is going to visit her, but when the angel appeared and told her that she has found favour, the Bible said, she was even afraid, I want to tell Nigerians not to be afraid when you hear that God is about to favour you” he reiterated

Hayab said ” we can’t continue to lament all our lives, I think we’ve lamented enough, we are looking up to heaven for favour this Christmas, we are looking up to heaven as we enter the new year, we are looking up to heaven for favor in 2023: God can you please favour and take this pains, favour us and give us good leadership, favor us and change the story of our lives, that’s what we’ve come to celebrate ” he prayed

According to him, “that’s why we are not making speeches, we are not complaining, we’ve a lot of things to complain about, but we say keep the complaints, let’s just say, God favour us as you favored  Mary, so that there will be  a change in our situation; situation in Nigeria today require divine intervention and God is willing to do something; we believe it is time for God to do it”

He further admonished Nigerians to celebrate this Christmas in love and sharing ” despite the hardship and cost of living, the spirit of Christmas is to love and share with one another, people must not fail to share with one another, let’s always remember that in our communities, we are not all the same, there are people that are not as strong as we are, “

Adding that there’s no better time to share and show love to neighbours and others than this christmas, ” because people are crying that they cannot afford this, they cannot afford that; appear like the angel appeared to Mary and say favor has come your way, you are not going to cry , favor has come  way, you are not going to lack, this is the spirit that we want to see happening ,God has shown us his favor and we have to show it to other people too” he stressed.

He further called on Nigerians as the general elections is around the corner , saying ” alot of things have been said about 2023, but I am not actually troubled, am not worried because one thing I know, Nigerians have come of age, we have suffered in the last 7 and half years, the fact of the matter is that the suffering is across interest, across regions, accross faiths and across whatever you call, every body is crying,

”  will we still be foolish, will we still be ignorant, will we still be greedy, will we still collect envelopes and do the wrong thing, so it is left for us to show that we have learned,  I think what needs to come up in 2023, is that, have we learned somehing,

” we  can’t suffer all these years, we can’t suffer attacks of bandits, insecurity, we can’t suffer exchange value of the naira, we cannot suffer all those years of suffering in Nigeria and after we suffer all of  those and Nigerians will still go to the poll and be stupid, that means we want to remain in suffering, so it’s left for us to grow up, because the fact is that Nigerians have had a terrible experience” he added.

On the same faith ticket, he noted that CAN, has spoken against Muslim Muslim ticket and that decison has not changed and not going to change.
