NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The Federal Government has explained that its decision to replace the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) traditional khaki uniform with locally produced Adire fabric is aimed at promoting Nigerian-made products, supporting the local textile industry, and creating more jobs.

According to the government, the proposed uniform redesign forms part of broader reforms approved for the NYSC to modernise the scheme while boosting local production and reducing dependence on imported materials.

The new Adire-based uniform is also expected to reflect Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and strengthen the country’s creative and textile industries.

Officials said the initiative will ensure that government spending directly benefits local manufacturers, artisans, and textile producers, thereby contributing to economic growth and employment opportunities across the country.

The planned changes are part of wider reforms designed to make the NYSC more effective, relevant, and beneficial to both corps members and national development.
