NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: Nigeria’s Electoral umpire, the Independent electoral Commission (INEC) has review the Presidential and National Assembly elections which is expected to now hold on the 25th of February 2023.

The INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu announced this during an extraordinary meeting held in Abuja.

Prof Yakubu said the adjustment of the election timetable is sequel to the signing into law the electoral act amendment Bill by president Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in Abuja.

He said governorship and state assembly will now hold on the 11th March 2023.

Prof Mahmood Yakubu further said the conduct of primaries to these category of elections will start on April 4th 2023 to end on 3rd June 2022.

He disclosed that the submission of nomination Forms online for presidential and National Assembly will start at 9.00am on the 10th June 2022 to 6.00pm on the 17th June 2022.

Consequently the governorship and state assembly will be at 9.00am on the 1st July 2022 to 6.00pm on the 15th July 2022.

Mahmood further disclosed that campaign by political parties in public for presidential and National Assembly will commence on the 28th September 2022 and the governorship and state Houses of Assembly will commence on the 12th October 2022.

He also noted that the campaigns for political parties for presidential and National Assembly will stop on the 23rd February 2023 while that of governorship and state houses of Assembly will stop on the 11th March 2023.

Prof Yakubu said this elections timetable shall be uploaded on all notices of the state INEC across the country.
