NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The Commandant of Martin Luther Agwai Leadership and Peacekeeping Center, Jaji , Maj. General Muhammad Fagge has urged media practitioners to always as patriotic citizens of Nigeria spread good news about the nation’s armed forces to encourage the men in uniform to give their best in protection of lives and territorial integrity of the country.

Fagge made the appeal Thursday as he received Executive Members of Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) , Kaduna State Council who were on a courtesy visit to the country’s institution for training troops on international Peacekeeping mission .

Fagge emphasised the need for mutual synergy and collaboration between members of the armed forces and Fourth Estate of the Realm , saying both institutions should work in advancing the cause of building a better , prosperous and strong nation.

The head of the continent’s premium military training ground , popularly known as Center of Excellence expressed readiness to train Journalists on basic knowledge on military terminologies and cultures for smooth and harmonious civic and military relationship.

” It is my joy to receive you here today to further nourish the longstanding relationship between us as partners in building a peaceful and strong nation.

” The roles played by the media in mobilizing and enlightening the populace towards working to a common goal and objective of developing the country in fulfilment of dreams and aspirations of our founding fathers cannot be overemphasized.

” As you can see for yourselves that this institution is equipped with the state of the art facilities built on cutting edge technology to instill knowledge and discipline on our troops going on Peacekeeping mission.

” We will sustain the existing relationship between our institutions for the benefit of our great country , ” he said.

Kaduna Council Chairman of NUJ , Comrade Asma’u Yawo Halilu earlier in her speech appealed to the Commandant of the Peacekeeping Center to revive training programme for members of the press .

She reiterated readiness of her led Exco and by extension the over 400 practising Journalists of Kaduna council to collaborate with the military by reporting activities and operational efforts of men in uniform to rid the country of terrorism and other forms of insecurity.
