NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: SABIL Charitable International Organisation (SCIO) has ended her annual Ramadan lecture with a theme “Civic Responsibilities” at Arewa House, Kaduna, on Sunday.

In her welcome address, the President, SABIL Charitable International Organisation, (SCIO) Halimatu Sadiya Abdu, commended everyone for attending.

“Your presence here indicates your commitment to humanitarian organisation such as ours; thank you very much.”she said.

The guest lecturer, Prof. Yahaya Mujahid noted that civic responsibilities lie with both the leaders and the led, as such, all must work together to harness the wealth of the country, as Islam does not recognize poverty.

“Islam and Ramadan portray three things: how to establish relationship between man and his creator, how do you harness the abundant resources, how to connect relationship between humans; especially among Muslims.”

He said “Looking at this theme, we will look at three subjects; God, leaders and followers. Knowing them will give us the understanding of the responsibilities of each among them.

“But all these won’t be possible, unless we worship God genuinely. We must understand that God is the reason for our existence, so we must worship him truly.” he stressed.

On his part, the former governor of Kaduna state Alhaji Ramalan Yero, noted that civic responsibilities lie mostly with our leaders and family men, therefore, there is need to always bring them to such lectures.

He therefore called on the organisation to do more by injecting young people into its leadership, as that will serve as bridge between the old and the young.

The annual Ramadan Lecture is an event usually held to connect Muslims to God in a responsible way.

Special invited dignitaries at this year’s event include the Emir of Zazzau, the grand Patron of the organization, though highly represented, the former governor of Kaduna state, among others.
