NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has described the death of the former Sokoto State Military Administrator, retired Gen. Garba Duba as a great loss to the entire nation.

A statement signed by the Press Secretary, said Governor Aliyu, in a condolence message expressed deep shock over the sad news of the demise of Gen. Duba whom he described as a fine, pious and committed leader who led by example.

“Late Duba was indeed a disciplinarian and a brave military officer who had impacted positively on the lives of people of Sokoto state during his reign.

” We the people of Sokoto state will surely miss him as he left an indelible mark that we will continue to remember him for, ” he  added.

Gov. Aliyu, on behalf of the good people of Sokoto State extended his heartfelt condolences to late Duba’s family, the Nigerian Military as well as the Niger State Government on the passing away of late Garba Duba.

He prayed to the Almighty Allah to accept his good deeds and forgive his shortcomings.

Late Gen. Duba was born in 1942, in Kontagora, Niger State, and joined the Nigerian Army and rose through the ranks to become the Governor of Bauchi State in 1978-1979 during the military regime of Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo.

He later served as the Military Administrator of Sokoto State from 1984-1985 during Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s military administration.

General Duba died yesterday and has since been buried according to islmic rites.

The statement also prayed for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace.
