NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: Former Military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has said, chief MKO Abiola, candidate of SDP, undoubtedly won the June 12, 1993, Presidential election, which he however annulled.

The Former head of State, who recently made a stunning revelation in his newly launched book, admitted that Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola won the June 12, 1993, presidential election.

This confession comes 32 years after the election, which was annulled by Babangida’s regime.

IBB’s New book

In his book, Babangida stated, “Although I am on record to have stated after the election that Abiola may not have won the election, upon further reflection, and a closer examination of all available facts, particularly the detailed election results which are published as an appendix to this book, there was no doubt that MKO Abiola won the June 12 elections.”

The launch of Babangida’s book was attended by prominent Nigerians, including business moguls and former military leaders. The event also witnessed significant donations to the IBB Presidential Library, with the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, donating N5 billion and General TY Danjuma donating N3 billion, totaling N7 billion.

These donations are expected to support the library’s efforts in preserving Nigeria’s history and promoting research and education. Babangida’s admission has sparked widespread interest and debate, with many Nigerians welcoming his change of heart and acknowledging the significance of the June 12 election in the country’s history.
