SKJF Lauds Tinubu’s Appointment Of Gen. Christopher Musa As Defence Minister

NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The Southern Kaduna Journalists’ Forum( ( SKJF) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the Appointment of General Christopher Gwabin Musa as Minister of Defence.

The Media advocacy group noted with pride that the well -deserved and timely appointment depicts inclusion and good governance which forms the basis of democratic tenants, which it represents.

SKJF also applauded the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his inclusive leadership style which has won him the support of the people of the region, state and country.

Addressing a press briefing in Kaduna on Wednesday, the Chairman Ango Bally and Secretary, Lilian Silas, further assured the duo usual reciprocity to continue to strengthen Unity, Fairness, inclusion and good governance in the state and Nigeria.

” Southern Kaduna Journalists’ Forum (SKJF) is an advocacy group that seeks to advance the cause of development of the region through appropriate reportage, with the Motto: ‘Advocacy for inclusive development and good governance.’ The forum is pleased to address you today.

” On behalf of the Forum, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), on his eminent appointment as the Honourable Minister of Defence by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,

” General Musa’s appointment is a well-deserved recognition of his illustrious career, exceptional leadership record, and steadfast commitment to the peace, unity, and security of our dear nation. As the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, he exhibited strategic brilliance, patriotism, and professional excellent qualities that continue to earn him national and international respect.

” We commend the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the swift, thorough, and highly professional screening process that led to his confirmation. The Senate’s meticulous scrutiny of his credentials and defense sector vision, demonstrates a broad national consensus on his capacity and integrity. The bipartisan support he received is a clear testament to the confidence reposed in his ability to lead at this critical time in our national security trajectory.

” The Forum also acknowledges and deeply appreciates the pivotal role played by the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, whose unwavering commitment to the development of Southern Kaduna continues to yield tangible results. His efforts in facilitating the establishment of the University of Applied Sciences, Kachia; the Federal Medical Center, Kafanchan; and the completion of some abandoned projects are commendable milestones.

” Governor Uba Sani has also been instrumental in supporting the nomination and subsequent appointment of General Musa as Minister of Defence. His belief in General Musa’s capacity and his sustained engagement at the highest levels of governance demonstrate an inclusive, bridge-building leadership style worthy of emulation.

” This stands in positive contrast to the exclusionary tendencies witnessed under the eight years of immediate Ex-governor Nasiru Ahmed El Rufai administration, which left Southern Kaduna marginalized in governance, development, and representation, having denied the region the ministerial slot as against previous government antecedents of fair distribution of key appointments across the state. You have demonstrated being a true friend of Southern Kaduna and you will never walk alone.

” It is worthy of note that the forum had in September, 2023 appealed to President Bola Tinubu to allocate the Kaduna State ministerial slot to Southern Kaduna for fairness and inclusive governance, following the rejection by the Nigerian Senate, the nomination of ex-Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai as Federal Minister. Indeed, we thank Tinubu for being a listening and responsive President by demonstrating inclusive politics. This gesture has not only restored equity but has further strengthened national cohesion and inclusive governance. The people of Southern Kaduna take note of this goodwill and will surely reciprocate at the appropriate time.

” General Musa’s appointment is a moment of pride for Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, and Nigeria at large. We are confident that he will deploy his depth of experience and embody the four Cs: Competence, Capacity, Capability, Courage, and Character, in confronting current security challenges and reinforcing Nigeria’s defence architecture.
