NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: In a bold step towards strengthening science education and creating better opportunities for young people across Southern Kaduna, Distinguished Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has embarked on the construction, comprehensive renovation and full equipping of Science Laboratory Centres in five secondary schools across the district.

A statement by the SA Media and Communications, Midat Joseph, said, the intervention reflects the Senator’s commitment to investing in projects that will have a lasting impact on the lives of young people and communities. It is also part of his broader effort to ensure that students across Southern Kaduna have access to the facilities and practical learning opportunities they need to compete in a rapidly changing world.

The first phase of the project covers the following schools:

GSS Ngarshang-KWOI, Jaba LGA: Construction and full equipping of a new Science Laboratory Centre.

GSS Sonje, Jema’a LGA:
Construction and full equipping of a new Science Laboratory Centre.

GSS Zankan-Moroa, Kaura LGA:
Construction and full equipping of a new Science Laboratory Centre.

GSS Katari, Kachia LGA:
Construction and full equipping of a new Science Laboratory Centre.

GSS Kamuru, Zangon Kataf LGA: Complete renovation and re-equipping of the existing Science Laboratory to modern standards.

The laboratories will be equipped with modern scientific apparatus, Reagents/chemicals and appropriate safety facilities to support practical learning in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

For Senator Katung, investing in education is an investment in the future of Southern Kaduna. He believes that students should not be limited by the quality of facilities available to them, but should instead be given the opportunity to discover their potential and pursue careers in science, technology, medicine and engineering.

According to the Senator, ” You cannot teach 21st century science with 19th century facilities. If we must produce future doctors, engineers and scientists from Southern Kaduna, we must invest in the foundation today.”

Work is already at an advanced stage across the project sites, with the completed facilities expected to be commissioned soon and made available for immediate use by students.
