NEWSDAILYNIGERIA– The Assistant Headmistress of the Universal Basic Education Primary School Romi, Mrs Felicia Akanya, has commended the Kaduna State government for the resumption of the National Home Grown School Feeding Program in the state.

The assistant Headteacher stated that “the resumption of the school feeding programme by the government has boasted the learning process of the pupils and also encouraged them to be punctual in school”

She further appreciated the government for resuscitating the program at this time, while urging them to continue to sustain it

In the same vein, one of the food vendors, Mrs Amina Aaron expressed her happiness for the resumption of the programme, saying ” the programme has been of great benefit to me and the children (pupils) because their number is always encouraging when they are been fed compared to when they are not”.

She further stated that “the food is complete balance diet because on Mondays we prepare Moi moi with spinach, Tuesdays the children get Rice and beans, Wednesdays is beans porridge , Thursdays they eat jollof rice and egg, while on Fridays we prepare Rice and stew for them”she added

According to her, the classes benefiting for now is primary 1 to 3, but she however regretted the third party involvement in the programme which is reducing the renumeration reaching them.

It would be recalled that the program was suspended in 2020 due to the covid-19 Pandemic that forced schools and other public gathering to be closed down.
