Kaduna: Bafarawa Launches Arewa Cohesion Initiative, Says ‘ I’ve No Political Ambition’

..My interest is to unite North- Bafarawa

NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: Former governor of Sokoto state, Dr Attahiru Bafarawa, has on Thursday, unveiled a new movement known as the Arewa Cohesion For Peace, Unity and development initiative ( ACPUDI) in Kaduna.

Bafarawa said the movement is apolitical, as he’s not joining any political party or offering himself for any elective or political appointment, but rather working for the unity and interest of the north in any political dispensation.

He made this known to journalists shortly after the official launching/ unveiling ceremony at the Arewa House Kaduna, which attracted the who is who in the north, among others.

He said ” the essence of this movement is to unite ourselves and bring peace and progress in the north, as I have rightly said in my speech, I am not going to participate in any political party neither APC, nor PDP, nor ADC, I am for this movement and at the same time,

” I will continue to be in politics but in a different way, in a way, because I’m not going to look for any elective position neither recieve any political appointment, because what is in my mind is to make sure we here in the north, we unite ourselves and also see what we can do for our young ones, even for those who are not yet born,

” Therefore, the essence is to form a formidable leadership for the unity of our people, so that we can be able to move forward ” he said.

He however lamented the backwardness of the north, in most spheres ” we are left behind in anything you can think of, in education, and there’s poverty and insecurity

” therefore, whoever we will want to support either as President or as governor in any part of this region, we have to sit down and give them our blue print
already, this movement has a blueprint, we will sit down and give you our blueprint and see how we can be able to execute it when you are in power that is the essence of this program” he reiterated.

On the proliferation of groups and associations of like minds, in the north like ACF, he noted that, it’s healthy as long as it’s for the interest of the north, ” they are welcome, we will sit down together and see how, we can work together, we are not going to part with any movement provided they have the north at heart, in fact, we are even going to make it at the national level, for every Nigerian ready to join us” he said.

In his remark,  the Chairman of the Occasion General Jam Temlong Retired, said, ” what we witnessed today is not merely the birth of another organization, but the emergence of a movement rooted in hope, guided by wisdom, and driven by an unwavering committed to the prosperity of our people,

” the Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity and Development Initiative represents the collective voice of a region that refuses to be defined by its challenges, but rather by its capacity to overcome them”

He tasked the leadership and membership, saying ” you carry the hopes of millions, may this unveiling mark the beginning of a journey that will be remembered as the turning point in our region’s quest for lasting peace and sustainable development ” he stated

In her goodwill message, the leader of Jamiya Matan Arewa, Hajia Rabi Salauwa, commended the launch of the initiative and called for collaboration to achieve the vision and mission of the movement, noting that, with their many years of efforts for the peace, growth and development of the north, they are ready to contribute their quota for the overall progress of the north and country at large.
