NEWSDAILYNIGERIA- The Students of Kaduna State university,( KASU) under the Zaman Tare special scholarship research grant, have made public dissemination of their research findings during the public lecture and dissemination ceremony at the university on Thursday.

The event being the second in the series of presentation attracted the members of the academia, students, religious and traditional leaders, women and youths, representatives of communities among others

Speaking, a member of Caritas Foundation Nigeria and Field officer Zaman Tare project, Mr Innocent Madukwe, said the essence of the presentation is to give the researched community members the opportunity to validate the findings of the research conducted in their respective communities

” because it’s for the communities to validate and to make sure that these researches were conducted in their communities and as you can also see
the way that the communities were owing up and asking questions, as a result of the findings in their communities and also making their own contributions” he added

According to him, the students that are disseminating this findings are part of the beneficiaries of the Zaman Tare scholarship for postgraduate, Masters and PhD students of the university adding ” those who made presentation on monday were the first set for the batch,

” then today we also had another set, hopefully next week, the university has already fixed the 20th-21st October for next set to make their presentation and we’ll have the last set on 10th- 11th of November, 2021″ he added

While describing the outcome of the scholarly dissemination of findings by the researchers, so far ” as tremendous” adding ” in fact the students did well, the presentation has been very remarkable and turnout impressive,: every one can testify to that, ” he averred

One of the beneficiaries, a student of Mass communication, Mr Adamu Sunday, who researched on the ” Influence of Facebook on Religious motivated violence in Chikun KGA, with particular reference to Mararaban- Rido and Kujama communities, said in the course of his research he

” discovered that the people of Kujama and Mararaban- Rido, use Facebook to foster relationship among themselves. l also discovered that the usage of Facebook have significant influence based on what people post or share on the platform and sometimes comments bring about negative connotations and sometimes lead to lost of lives and property”

Speaking further he said, ” False Facebook post has serious implication in the communities, adding that, he has “discovered that the people of Kujama and Mararaban- Rido communities use Facebook to foster relationship among themselves and as a result of this the people are living in peace, ever since Zaman Tare came to this very communities” he reiterated

While recommending that Facebook users or Facebookers ” should try as much as possible to verify wherever post they make or share, so as not to create panic in their communities, also I recommended that there should be public lectures, symposium and seminars for members of the communities to sustain the peace they are enjoying ” he stressed

According to him, governments at all levels ” should try as much as possible to provide a robust level playing ground for Zaman Tare to continue with their good works in ensuring that peace reigns supreme in these communities, Kaduna state and Nigeria at large ” he added

In the same vein, a Postgraduate student of political science, Justina Kahu, whose research work centred on the ” Role of women in conflict management crisis in Kaduna metropolis said her findings revealed that ” Women have contributed significantly in conflict management and they are fully involved in seeing that communities in the metropolis live in peace.

” l was made to realize that even when there are not conflicts many women NGOs come together to teach other women or empower them in one or two things

While making her recommendations, ” l want to say that women should not take this privilege for granted, for it is not every one that is given the privilege, adding because stakeholders are committed to giving a helping hands hence, the women should be mindful and not take that for granted ” she stressed

It would be noted that Ten student researchers have so far made their public dissemination since the exercise commenced, while a handful of other scholars are expected to make their presentation accordingly.

ZAMAN TARE is a project of Caritas Nigeria, Funded by European Union, (EU) in partnership with CAFOD and DREP. It is presently operating in Kaduna and Plateau states in Nigeria and Niger Republic respectively
