… As MBJF says, act is unacceptable

NEWSDAILYNIGERIA– The Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council, has tasked security agencies in the nation’s capital, to be decisive in locating Mr. Tordue Salem, a Journalist, who works with Vanguard Newspapers and covers the National Assembly.

The NUJ said, the Tiv native was reportedly, missing since Wednesday, October, 13, on the evening of the day he was last seen.

In a statement signed by Emmanuel Ogbeche and Ochiaka Ugwu, chairman and secretary, respectively on Sunday tasked the police and DSS to unravel the mystery surrounding Mr. Salem’s whereabouts.

“For all of us journalists in Abuja, we have been on edge these past few days over the mysterious disappearance of our colleague and friend, Mr. Tordue Salem.

“It is worrying that an adult will simply varnish into thin air without a trace. This is unacceptable and we urge the police and DSS to rise up to the occasion and provide answers to this troubling situation,” the statement added

The NUJ officials called fellow Journalists to remain hopeful, prayerful and offer any leads that could prove useful in resolving the impasse.

Similarly, the Middle Belt Journalists Forum, MBJF, said it is taken aback in shock over the disappearance of one of its Members, Tordue Salem, who was reportedly, sighted at Garki area on the evening on the day he was missing.

MBJF in a statement on Monday signed by Jonathan Ipaa and Oikeke Igado-kure, President and Secretary respectively, charged security agencies to step up their intelligence and ensure the safe return of our dear professional colleague.

“Certainly this act is not acceptable that in the heart of the Federal Capital Territory, a man could disappear without trace.

“We urge members of the public with useful information to avail such to our security operatives to enable them unravel the mystery of the disappearance of the Journalist.

“For us at MBJF, we have on edge these past few days over the strange disappearance of our colleague, Mr. Tordue Salem.

Speaking further the MBJF, called on its members and the general public to be hopeful, prayerful and offer any leads that could prove useful in the return of their missing member.
