NEWSDAILYNIGERIA– The Interfaith mediation centre, Kaduna and the Mambaya House Aminu Kano chapter for Democratic studies, Bayero University, Kano, are collaborating to promote accountability and Anti- corruption using the behavioural Change approach.

The project which is funded by MacArthur Foundation and expected to last from 2021-2024. had a one Day training workshop in Kaduna on Saturday, for key stakeholders at the grassroot across the 4 Metropolitan LGAs of Kaduna state on practicable panacea to the menace in our state and country.

Speaking the Co- executive Director IMC and Co- Director of Mambaya project on fighting corruption using the behavioral approach, Dr. James Movel Wuye, said the essence of this programme is how to change our behaviours as citizens of Nigeria towards fighting corruption through behavioural change

” and so here, you would see people from the legislative arm of our grassroot democracy, the local government councillors, you have also seen traditional leaders, people living with disability and off course, you Journalists

” we have brought every facet of the society including the youths and women to see how do we inculcate through parenting, through advocacy, through teaching and am told that they ( participants) are going to schools to raise champions against corruption in the secondary schools, this to me, has really satisfied the essence of our coming to this program ” he stated

According to him, what is more encouraging is the commitment by the media to monitor the activities and undertakings by the participants, by stepping it down in their communities to ensure that they walk the talk, couple with the opening of a platform for champions of Anti corruption to come on board to air their views on what they pledged to do,

” To me, that is a submission of a successful outing on Anti corruption in Nigeria as a whole coming from the grassroot ” he stressed

On his part, speaking on behalf of the Councillors in attendance, Hon Ahmed Rufai Musa, representing Kakuri- Hausa ward, while commending the programme, said ” It’s actually fantastic, and you know, this programme has a direct impact on not only we the participants, but the people at home”

According to him, ” when we go home, we are going to address them on tackling the issue of corruption, particularly, this is what is eating us up in our society, if our society can be able to address the problem of corruption, Nigeria will be safe for every one” he averred

Similarly, the Chief Imam Muhammad salisu musa ( sudais) mando, Kaduna said Corruption is a disease that pervades every facet of our country to the point that if one is not involved he or she is mocked, according to him, we are all called by our creator to do what only is good and avoid that which s bad and to try and be oneself not the other person.

He noted that we are in a very terrible situation in this country owing to corruption and we’ll all be asked to give account as leaders how we acquired wealth and as followers the life we lived.

The highlight of the one- Day seminar on the behavioral Change approach to corruption include a group commitment and action plan according to local governments and strata by participants among other things.
