NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: A student of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria, Samuel Adekoge has committed suicide, after losing his tuition fees to gambling.

It was gathered that Adekoge drank some chemical substance after losing his school fee and that of his friend to an online betting platform.

The Deputy Registrar, Public Relations, Sola Abiala, who confirmed the incident, said the school quickly referred him to a specialist hospital to save his life but he was pronounced dead at the hospital after taking chemical substance.

Adegoke, an NDII student of Electrical Electronic Engineering, died on Monday after using his school fee to play an online betting on Friday but lost.

The deceased, who is preparing for the first-semester examination, was reported to have swindled his friend’s phone, who is sharing a room with him by getting his password and using his fee to play.

It was gathered that the school had warned that no student would be allowed to take an exam without completing their registration.
