Gowon To FG: Declare State Of Emergency On Federal Infrastructure In Bassa/Dekina Fed Constituency

NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The Honourable Member, House of Representatives, representing Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency, Rt Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna, has called on the Federal Government to declare a State of Emergency on Federal Infrastructures in Bassa and Dekina Local Governments of Kogi State to give succour to the people in the areas.

Haruna made this call during a plenary at the House of Representatives on Thursday in Abuja; saying, there is no urgent time than now.

In what he described as urgent, Hon Gowon urged his fellow and esteemed House Members to urgently consider and approve the declaration of a state of emergency on federal infrastructure in the said Areas of Kogi State.

Rep Gowon popularly known as IJN said Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency is very significant in terms of economic values with a substantial population, which requires immediate attention and investment in federal infrastructure to foster economic development and improve the overall well-being of its people.

He added that, Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency stands as a vital hub for economic activities, contributing significantly to the growth and prosperity of Kogi State and the Country at large. However, the absence of adequate federal infrastructure such as Insufficient road networks, inadequate power supply, and limited access to essential services
poses a considerable hindrance to the full realization of its economic potential.

Hon Haruna equally said, having recognized the strategic importance of this constituency, the federal government should allocate substantial resources toward the development of key infrastructure projects; which includes but not limited to: are Road Infrastructure, that is tphe construction and rehabilitation of major roads connecting key economic zones within the Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency, facilitating the smooth flow of goods and services.

Another thing is Power Supply, which will bring about Investment because a reliable and sustainable power supply will boost industrial and commercial activities, providing a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

According to him, “Healthcare Facilities Establishment will enhanced healthcare of the populace which will also ensure and address health challenges, and promoting a healthier community.

“Educational Infrastructure, is another good area if the Construction and improvement of educational facilities are enhanced, it will give access to quality education, empowering the youths and fostering human capital development.

“Water Supply and Sanitation is another vital area because water, they said is life. A reliable and clean water supply, will address sanitation challenges and improving the overall quality of life for the constituents especially as the campaign for the eradication of open defecations is ongoing.

“Declaring State of Emergency, apart from fostering economic development, it will also create job opportunities, and improve the standard of living for the constituents. For that, I urges my esteemed colleagues to support the motion, recognizing the positive impact it will have on the people of my constituent and the nation at large”, Hon Haruna appealed.
