NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: In fulfilment of the provisions of the constitution of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Kaduna state Council, has inaugurated a 3-man committee for the conduct of its forthcoming elections scheduled for December 16, 2024.

The Asma’u led-excos, while relying on Article 5 of the NUJ 2023 constitution as amended, averred that the constitution has provided that a Crediential Committe be set-up 90 days before the expiration of the tenure of the subsisting Central Working Committee (CWC)

While presiding over a monthly congress at the Union’s secretariat on Thurday, the Chairman of the Council, Asma’u Yawo Halilu emphasised on the need for qualified members of the Union to be nominated as members of the Committee as stipulated by the constitution.

Meawhile, the 3-man Committee which included Mr. Shindong Bala of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Babangida Abdullahi of Freedom Radio, and Mr. Frederick Peters of Kabido Chapel respectively was adopted at the floor of the congress.

The committee has been saddled with the responsibility of organising a hitch-free election for the Union.

Comrade Asma’u, while inaugurating the electoral committee called on members of the committee to discharge their duties without bias in the interest of the Union and its members.

She added that their appointment was a true test of their integrity which must not for whatever reason be dented.

It is expected that the names of the committee members be forwarded to the National Secretariat.
