NEWSDAILYNIGERIA:The New Chief Medical Director of the National Eye Center, Dr. Amina Hassan, has assured the hospital community and the general public to offer inclusive service and leadership to all irrespective of persuasions, inline with the vision and mission of the hospital.

The sixth CMD, called for support and commitment of members of staff, patients, stakeholders, all and Sundry to achieve that.

She noted that her vision is to make the hospital attain an amiable status of a training institution of high standard among others things.

Amina made this known shortly after assuming office as the 6th CMD of the hospital at the handing/ taking over ceremony on Monday at the hospital premises.

Speaking on the issue of land dispute with the state government, she said the hospital is working on how the issue can be settled out of court amicably and the land returned back to the National eye center.

According to her, with her over 20 years with the hospital, she will bring on board her vision for renewed hope for the hospitall ” I have been part of this hospital when I was employed almost 20 something years ago, and I have seen the improvements from where it started , to where it is now and where we have to go

” I think it’s time that the National eye center to take that leadership in training of some specialists, not just our own Doctors in the National Eye center, we have optomogists all over Nigeria in different institutions, so instead of trying to go abroad for this training you can come to National eye center,

” so that’s my long time vision, that this should be a training center, for not just Doctors, but also need the support staff to be trained on that speciality, so National eye center should take up that leadership” she stressed

She further talked on prioritizing technology, security and also the training of other clinical staff, especially now that the world is digitalised, ” our Staff need to train in ICT to go with the times” she added.

She maintained that as being a CMD for all ” am from the north, am a Muslim, so am going to be CMD for all despite where you come from, despite the religion you practice, despite anything, I’m not going to be bais to all” she assured.

Similarly, the outgone CMD, Dr. .A Abdulrahaman, describing how it feels handing over to a her successor” it feels wonderful, I have been given a heavy trust and I tried my best in discharging it and I pray that posterity will judge me well, it’s not for me to whether say I have passed or failed, it is the people that will pass that judgment, but I tried my best, because as humans we all have our limitations.”

According to her, there some progress and achievements on security which however remains a biggest challenge in the north, while appreciating God for safe release of one of her staff, who was kidnapped and released during her leadership.
