..Harps on tackling unemployment, others in his Constituency.


NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: A two term member, Federal House of Representatives for Zango/Jaba Constituency, Rt Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji (AGM), has presented his performance scorecard in the last five years, to the media in Kaduna.

Magaji noted that his political engagements and decision to defect to the APC were deliberate and conscious efforts aimed at bringing the most desired developments to his people.

The lawmaker harped on the need to support agriculture and skills empowerment to mitigate unemployment amd other challenges bedeviling his constituency and state.

He made this known in a media parley, with the Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum,( SKJF) on Saturday in Kaduna .


In his remarks, Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji thanked the journalists’ forum from southern Kaduna extraction for according him such opportunity to sit down and share his moments of victories and pains, as a Federal lawmaker.


He disclosed that as far as infrastructural development was concerned, he had keyed in to education, thereby building at least one block of classroom in all the 21 Wards in his constituency.


“I represent Zangon Kataf/Jaba Local Governments Constituency, and it has 21 wards, and in these 21 wards, there’s no ward that I have not built a block of classroom, there is no ward that cannot boast of a classroom.


“There’s no ward that I have not sank a borehole, these are some of the things that before now, nobody knew that a House of Reps member could do.” He added.


On the issue of managing the wide spread of incessant attacks by heardsmen, the honourable acknowledged that since he came into power in 2019, he had tried as much as possible to respond to situations that demanded quick responses, especially in Zangon Kataf Local Government.

He said that providing food as quick responses to the crisis hit areas has been his regular routine since he assumed the seat.”In the two local governments, there is no ward that I have not served them equally” he said.

“All through these years, I believe that trucks of food, over ten trailers of rice, grains have entered Southern Kaduna to respond to the crisis of the people in IDPs.
“I’ve also brought trucks of building materials and I’ve also distributed over five hundred motorbikes especially to crisis communities, the Hausa/Fulani and Atyap.”


“In infrastructural development, there is no part that was left, but in crisis, whether you like it or not, Atyap has received its fair share of the crises in Nigeria, hence, the reason for giving much needed attention than Jaba Local Government.”


On roads constructions , he pointed out his influence and lobbying has yielded results as the most anticipated bridge that connects Southern Kaduna to other parts of the state through Manchock, is under construction up to near completion


“As it is right now, the bridge is near completion, because almost everything that has to do with the bridge itself has been done, but the unfortunate thing we are facing right now, is the issue of variation.”


On tackling Unemployment, the lawmaker noted that the era of textiles industries that brought so much relief on the government is crumbled, which has led to too much dependence on government, as our higher institutions produce about 250,000 graduates annually.


According to him, this calls for a private sector collaborations to be able to manage such situation. “Unless we begin to drive our economy through private sector, it is impossible that government would employ these people.

“I have sat down with youths in Southern Kaduna, those that wanted to hear I tell them, go into agriculture, we will support you. And there’s no year I have not supported farmers with fertilizer free, thousands of fertilizers are given to farmers every year, I do that religiously every year to encourage farming” he said.


Speaking further on efforts to put Southern Kaduna in limelight, and to further recognize its trademark as the leading producer of ginger as a roots crop in the country, thereby reducing unemployment, the lawmaker has also sponsored a bill to establish a Ginger institute, and another bill to seek for an amendment to establish a Root Crop Research Institute in the same zone.

He said the essence is to bring about economy boost within the Senatorial District, which through directly or indirectly, would increase the par capital income of his constituents.


On culture and tourism, the AGM mentioned that he has sponsored a bill to upgrade the status quo of the Nok Museum, which has already been passed into law.
These among many others, as highlighted by the lawmaker are his achievements so far.


The media parley was unique, because the officials of the forum noted with appreciation and happiness, the opportunity presented to them by the lawmaker, to access him, and cleared air on some lingering issues.
