Analysing The Kaduna Political Tsunami

NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: For a long time since the beginning of Democratic governance in 1999, which gave birth to the Second Republic, politicians from the North and South of Kaduna have always takes different political loyalty.

Despite the fact that the action have been causing far reaching political implications, the two sides have remains politically different.

However, historic events took place in the crocodile city last week Saturday, when majority of politicians from Southern Kaduna among others held a rally, and decamped from some political parties and embrace the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

There are also elected members of other party who openly cross carpet and declared their support for the leadership of Governor Uba Sani.

Different from the cross carpet of the First Republic politics, but a willness for a bulk of people known for having different political attachment, dated back to many years to come back together in one political family.

It was a political master stroke and timely. It is the first time in the history of political activity in Kaduna State, where members of other political parties with their supporters in large numbers to do so.

Observers said the event was neither an error, but to show their confidence and support for the government of Senator Uba Sani whom they said is a leader for the entire citizens of the state, irrespective of tribe or religion.

The whole of the old Race Course, now Murtala Mohammed square was filled to the brim as early as 7am on the day for the grand occasion, which analyst have describe as successful civilian coup.

Both the old, the young, men and women attended the venue.

As it pleased the decampees, they came in large numbers from across the state, not only to identify with the APC goverment in the state, but the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, one of them told this reporter.

They spoke eloquently on the qualities of Senator Uba Sani leadership focus which promotes cohesive relationship among the people of the state. Mallam Wada, a Second Republic politician describe Governor Uba Sani as a Preacher who went about to preach peace and that made him to gain converts daily across the state, he added.

To many of them, the performance of the APC goverment in the state under Governor Uba Sani should not come as a surprise in view of the numerous factors in favor of the party, which included the role of the governor, who in addition to his excellent leadership qualities, he is also a master strategist.

The governor was for example quite calculative in all the dealing he took with political leaders from the Southern Kaduna in particular, thereby avoiding any error which will have made the decamped not to succeed, one of their leady stressed.

According to him, initially, while preparing for the occasion, and in view of the historical development in the past between the North and South of Kaduna in terms of political alliance, the governor and the leaders of the APC in the state, made sure that those who are willing to go along with them should be allowed to do so, without any force or coercion, he explained.

One of the women decampees, simply called mama Anas said that the simplicity and sincerity of Governor Uba Sani endeared him to her and her supporters.

Political observers equally believes that the rally was a tremendous benefits to the party, for making an inroads to an areas known for been difficult to penetrate in politics.

It should be noted that the governor did not start the political revolution alone, but with those who are conversant with the political history of Kaduna State.

Majority of those present at the rally are in every definition political heavy weights in the state and beyond. Senator Sulaiman Hunkuyi, Senator Shehu Sani, Senator Danjuma Laah, former governor Ramallan Yero among many prominent politicians cannot be written off in the politics of Nigeria. It is therefore an extreme naivety for any person to describe their gathering as not important, or hurling venomous insults at them.

Instead, the success of the rally should become a wake up for othe political parties in the state and correct their steps.

Governor Uba Sani approach to governance from a far political observers is said to be inclusive of the foot soldiers, the party men and women who normally mobilize people to ensure victory for the party and candidates in an election.

Lest we forget, that Senator Uba Sani was a student of Gani Fawehinmi school of Thought who believe in the emancipation of the downtrodden, hence Sani’s goverment concentration on the massive development of rural areas across the entire Kaduna State.

Finally, whether the massive crowd that gathered at Murtala Mohammed square in Kaduna last Saturday can transform into victory for the APC in Kaduna in 2027 remains a conjecture.
