NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum, (SKJF) has commended the Senator representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial zone, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for his invaluable contribution to the establishment of the Federal University in the zone.

The Forum also applauded his commitment to the peace and development of his constituency and people via his laudable projects amongst others.

The commendation came through the Chairman SKFJ, Ango Bally, during the median media parley on Thursday in Zonkwa, where the Senator further assured of government’s commitment to mitigate insecurity in the zone, through the establishment of two (FOBs) in Southern Kaduna among other things.

Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, however condemned the participation of local communities in the escalating insecurity crisis plaguing Southern Kaduna. Speaking to the Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum (SKJF) in Zonkwa, he pledged robust government intervention and emphasized the urgent need for intensified security measures to hold perpetrators accountable.

Marshall also noted that the violence is rooted in criminal activity, not a herder-farmer conflict, and announced the military’s approval of two new Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) to bolster security in the area.

While highlighting his commitment to the region’s development, Senator Marshall cited the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia as a key achievement.

He outlined plans for a new technology and ICT training program for Southern Kaduna youth and urged the Kaduna State government to prioritize the recruitment of science teachers to bolster the quality of education.

He provided an update on the proposed Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, explaining that his Senate bill awaits hearings while its House of Representatives counterpart bill has passed its final stage.

He expressed confidence in its eventual passage and sought continued constituent support for a smooth legislative process. He reiterated his commitment to pursuing further development projects for his senatorial district.

The Senator stressed the importance of accurate reporting by the media and the need to overcome divisive religious and ethnic tensions to achieve lasting progress.

He pointed out that the establishment of the Federal university in Southern Kaduna, is a clear example of his inclusive, bipartisan approach, crediting its success to strategic social capital mobilization, independent of religious, ethnic, or party lines. He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.

Speaking the Chairman of the Southern Kaduna Journalist Forum,( SKJF) Ango Bally praised Senator Katung’s efforts, particularly the Federal university project in Southern Kaduna.

Bally who is also Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Invicta FM Chapel, admonished other elected and appointed persons from Southern Kaduna to emulate Sen. Katung’s sterling performance and unwavering commitment towards fast tracking the development of the region .

He said the essence of the media parley is to interface with journalists from the zone and to update the public on the Senator Katung’s activities and his unwavering commitment to the zone.
