Akpabio, Akpoti And The Rest Of Us

NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The emergence of Senator Goodswill Akpabio as President of the 10th Assembly followed the same pattern in the Nigeria Senate since 1999. Many forces within and outside the system made sure that they must have their ways or create confusion.

While these powerful groups are real and control the system, it is still important to stress that the coming of Senator Akpabio as the Senate President was also not easy in the first instance.

It should however, be noted that many of the atrocities to delay Senate performance are allegedly carried out with the connivance of insiders within the system, who are infiltrators that lacks moral uprightness and integrity.

They ensure they created an unnecessary atmosphere to ensure the success of their plans to blackmail the entire system and even the country.

Political observers noted that the recent scandal between a lady Senator and the Senate President was actually a political scheming directed at the Presidency to weaken it, as a prelude to a larger embarrassment towards the 2027 race.

It was a well packaged civilian treachery to dent the image of the legislative arm of government in the people’s court.

A political analyst said political elites usually convene around interest and not ideology, and that is the reason why you see them jumping from one political party to another and don’t care to taint the character of others with dishonesty and pave a way for humiliation.

The point he added, is that no matter how a Nigeria politician tries, especially those in authority or running the government, the tendency is that within the system, there are others who create discords and allow mischief-makers to have a field day.

It was reported that the current scandal rocking the nation’s Senate were allegedly created by politicians and ethics power blocs with sectarian interest who often influence others to strike against their perceived enemies.

This latest macabre spectacles has made Nigeria to be embarrassed and humiliated around the world. The sponsor’s and backer’s of the national disgrace should bury their heads in the gutter.

Probably, there may be other selfish reasons, but their actions’ stands condemnable and its an affront that should not be swept under the carpet.

As I said earlier, perhaps the backstage manipulators of the crisis were targeting the Presidency because of the smooth running of government activities with the full cooperation of the majority of the legislators in the National Assembly.

The pertinent question still arose as whether the recent alleged sex scandal rocking the Senate is part of the setup to subdue the entire legislative arm of government to ridicule.

However, it will seem correct to say that the controversial woman Senator from Kogi State had on many occasions dropped names of elites, especially politicians to make money and wealth after allegedly blackmailing them. This would explain her association with many men and all in position of authority.
