NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The Priests and Lay Faithful of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna, on Wednesday embarked on a two day power packed prayer Rally, to pray for the church, state and country.

The maiden event tagged” In the Days of His power” held at St Matthew’s Parish, Television, attracted an array of priests of the Archdiocese and lay faithful in their numbers.

The chief celebrant, in the concelebrated Mass, Parish Priest of St Augustine’s, Parish and Dean of Rimau Denary, VRF Daniel Kyom, commended the initiative ” We have gathered here today, the Priests and lay faithful of our Archdiocese to seek the face of God; in our country and lives today, we need revival, all of us are exhausted in so many ways, we are exhausted physically ,

” we are exhausted spiritually, morally, economically, security wise we are exhausted; we are exhausted even in our relationships, so we have gathered here for revival, we want God who has given us the opportunity to come before him to revive us, to bring us back to His ways, adding that “we’ve strayed, but we want God to bring us back, so that is the first intention of this program, we want God to Revive us” he stressed

He further described the initiative ” it’s a wonderful idea, in the sense that, in the Church, we have people who subscribe to different spirituality, we’ve people who are more driven to the blessed sacrament, there people who are driven towards the Holy Mass, those who are driven towards adoration to the Blessed Virgin Mary, we also have people who are charismatic oriented, so this is an opportunity for every body to come and experience God from their different spiritual angles.

“We just finished the Mass, there will exposition of the blessed sacrament, there was confession before Mass, and now we are going into praise and worship, so it’s an opportunity for every Catholic to come and be revived, ” he added

According to him, there’s the need for the sustainability of the initiative ” we pray that this will become like that mustard seed in the Bible, Jesus says whatever you plant in Faith no matter how small it is, if you believe in it, it will grow, so we pray that this will be continuous thing” he said

Similarly, the Team leader and Parish Priest of St Andrew’s Kakuri, Kaduna, Rev Fr Lukas Zasan Auta, said the need to meet the yearnings and aspirations of God’s people informed the event ” We discovered that our people are hungry everyday, they are hungry for prayer, they are hungry for the word of God, most often than not every thing cannot be given to them or done on Sunday and so we deemed it fit to bring the people of God to have like about two to three hours and moments of praying together and listening to God speak to us through the word, so that was the reason for initiating this prayer project

”  and then to pray to God through the exposition of the blessed sacrament for God’s divine intervention in the lives of our people, God’s divine healing, breakthrough, deliverance and then to pray for the priests of the Archdiocese and by extension Catholic Priests all over Nigeria; because of the prevailing attacks of banditry, we cannot do without prayer, and through prayer we can avert so many things affecting our livelihood here in our country Nigeria” he averred.

Adding that ” This is just the beginning and we trust God that as time goes on it will be an annual project, this is just the beginning and you can see it is encouraging , it’s a good start and we pray that the spirit of God will sustain it for us not by our own power” he stated.

Highlight of the event include, Holy Mass, confession, Adoration, Talks, Intercessory prayers, praise and worship and lots more.
