NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: Kaduna governor, Uba Sani on Saturday officially presented the staff of office to the newly appointed Chief of Moroa, Isiaku Tagwai Sambo, at Manchok, Moroa Chiefdom in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The event attracted dignitaries, traditional rulers, government officials, and grassroots leaders from Southern Kaduna and beyond.

Shortly after presenting the staff of office, Gov Sani reiterated his administration’s resolve to work closely with traditional leaders in promoting rural development amongst others.

” You are succeeding your father, the late Chief Tagwai Sambo, who reigned for 58 remarkable years, Gov Sani said

” He was a leader renowned for peace, patience, and purpose.

“His memory will continue to live in the hearts of the people of our dear state.”

The governor underscored the vital role traditional institutions continue to play in governance, security, and development.

” Our royal fathers are partners in policy, protectors of peace, and promoters of progress.

“They are the first line of intelligence in tackling insecurity, the moral compass for promoting harmony, and grassroots mobilisers for health, education, and community development,” he said.

According to him,” The staff of office is not just a symbol of authority but a reminder of responsibility.

“We believe traditional leaders play a pivotal role in conflict resolution, cultural preservation, and grassroots mobilisation for good governance.

The newly installed Chief Sambo, in his acceptance speech, reflected on the peaceful and impactful reign of his late father.

“He was a humble and visionary leader, a detribalised Nigerian who earned the deep love and admiration of his people,” he said.

“With a heart full of gratitude, I thank His Excellency for approving my appointment as the 5th Chief of Moroa Chiefdom.

“By the grace of God, I, along with my council of district heads, village heads, and the entire Moroa Chiefdom in Kaura LGA, will work as a united team to fulfil our responsibilities with integrity and the fear of God,” he assured.

The chief appealed to the state government for the rehabilitation of rural roads, the establishment of skills acquisition centres to empower young people, and the fencing of Kajim, the only water intake point in Zonkwa that supplies potable water to three local government areas.

He also expressed concern that both human and animal encroachment threaten the sustainability of the natural spring, which remains a vital resource for the region.
