NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The Adara Youth Empowerment Initiative ( AYEI) has supported the split of Adara Chiefdom by Kaduna state government into Kachia and Kufana Chiefdoms respectively

AYEI also appealed to Governor Nasir El- rufai to do the needful by upgrading the newly created Kachia chiefdom to a first class status, while Kufena chiefdom becomes second class accordingly.

The Youth group, said as a registered organization whose core mandate is the emancipation of the indigenous Adara people nationwide, it has over 200 representatives in communities of Chikun, Kachia, Kagarko and Kajuru among others

AYEI  disclosed this during a press briefing addressed by AYEI’s Executive Secretary and Sarkin Matasa Adara, Meshach Atuke, on thursday in Kaduna, where it further faulted any  group opposed to the creation of more Chiefdoms for Adara people, as it was the case with their Neighbors the Gbagi people, who they believe have 3 in their kitty

AYEI noted  that the more the merrier, considering their population “as the 2nd largest ethnic group in the state” , the group claimed

” we wish to solicit His excellency, to graciously upgrade the status of Agom Kachia, being the parent Chiefdom and Kufana Chiefdom, with  first class and second class titles/status respectively and to also ensure that Adara Men ascend the thrones

” AYEI also crave the indulgence of the Executive Governor to engage our teeming youths of Adara extraction being the second largest ethnic group spanning across 17 wards of Kaduna state, with  juicy appointments in both the state and Federal leve,l as this will further reduce youths restiveness in our high risk security prone areas

” we want to commend the giant efforts of His. Excellency in his biid to curb the manace of banditry activities as the first Governor in Nigeria to recommend severe punishment to any apprehended bandit in the country” it added

While responding to questions, on the negative effects of insecurity in their area, the program officer AYEI, Buru community, Hon Toro Williams, said it has affected the economy of the area”

” we are a predominantly agrarian settlement, we do have a lot of farmlands, but today, you cannot go there because of bandits, ” so we still believe if the goverement can engage us in one way or the other the  issue of insecurity could be tackled”

According to him, ” our neigbours, the gbagi are laughing at us, the already have 3 traditional leadership in Kaduna, the Emir of Birnin Gwari, Esu Chikun and that of Gujeni and we are nowhere and the gave us two chiefdoms and we say, we don’t want; so that’s the reason, why we (AYEI) want this,

” the Adara Developmemt Association (ADA) is a pressure group, let her be doing what she feels is good for her, while we too are are a Non governmental organization, we also see what is good; we want the Kaduna state government not to relent in her efforts in recognizing us,

”  we don’t mind him( Governor El-rufai) giving us another chief in Kagarko because we have people in Kagarko, we don’t mind him given us another chief in chikun,  because our people are in Chikun” he stressed

Recall that the Adara Development Association (ADA) Kaduna had earlier rejected the proposed scrabbed Adara first class chiefdom and the creation of two third – class chiefdoms by the Kaduna state government

Through a release issued by the association’s National President and National Secretary, Awemi Dio Maisamari and Barr. Luka G. Waziri, ADA rejected any attempts to impose third-class chiefdoms on their people in place of the scrapped first-class, pointing out that it will take the paths of reasoning and the law to rescind the decision
