NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: Following intense battle for Kajuru Local Government’s indigene to emerge as the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, a top contender for the seat, Hon. Amos Kadashi Isuwa has withdrawn from the race.

The move to stepdown according to him, is to join forces and paving way for a seamless emergence of a consensus candidate from amongst his people.

Kadashi made this known via a telephone interview with our political correspondent in Kaduna on Thursday

He said what informed his decision to withdraw/ step down from the race, was because of the love, he has for his people, and the passion for equity.

When asked if his stepping down was as result of external pressure from political godfathers, or just for personal reasons, Kadashi said “I’m doing this, because I know this is the right thing to do, I’m doing this, as an individual; I’m doing this because of the burden that is in my heart, to make sure somebody amongst us emerges winner at the end of the day; that is the reason why I’m stepping down.

“Looking at the way things are, we’ve been marginalized, no equity in the sense of leadership, they’ve not actually given us a chance to also represent our people for over 19 years; that actually motivated many of us to turn out this time around, because of the love we have for our people, because of the passion we have for our people,” he said.

According to him “If truly equity must be served, the 5 of us from Kajuru cannot go to the battlefield, because we will end up not winning; so based on this political calculations, you now understand why I had to make this bold decision to step down, so that I can actually create room to make one person win,” he added.

Speaking further, he noted that, based on available information, they are sure of victory, if only they can pull their votes together for a single consensus candidate.

It was further gathered that Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, has politically been under controversy for more than a decade now, owing to the fact that since the return to democracy in 1999, Kajuru Local Government has only been given a single tenure, which was held by Hon. Yakubu Isyaka from 1999-2003.

While the remaining over 19 years the constituency was representated by Hon. Yakubu Umar Barde from Chikun Local Government, whom they accused of not being sincere in respecting the gentleman’s proposals/ agreement they had with him all these while.

It would be noted that Kajuru indigenes vying for this seat are Hon. Samuel Ubankato Tanko, Hon. Jumare Muhammad Shuaibu, Hon.Esther Asheville Dawaki and Hon. Jonathan Washiri.

The PDP primary election for the federal constituencies has been rescheduled to hold on Saturday May 22, which would be followed by the Senatorial Districts primaries, on Sunday.
