.. As Council congratulates Chair over victory

NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The Chief Magistrate court 3 sitting in Barnawa; Kaduna state, has affirmed the election of Asmau Yawo l Halilu as the duly elected Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Kadauna State Council.

The court on monday discharged and acquitted the case against the Chairnan of the Kaduna NUJ coucil, Comrade Asma’u Yawo Halilu and four others.

 The court, ordered that the defendants shall not be made to appear on the same allegations against them before any court without the leave of the court.

Recall that, the NUJ chairman and others were dragged to court by some aggrieved members of the union, shortly after her emergence as Kaduna NUJ Chairman during the state council election months back.

By this judgment, issues that may have arise during and the aftermath of the election are expected to have been addressed and laid to rest.

In a statement signed by the council secretary, Comrade Gambo Santos Sanga described the court verdict as a true reflection of the wishes of the majority of members the union, pointing out that the futile exercise will serve as a panacea towards the growth and development of the kaduna council of the NUJ.

” Following the Monday decision by a magistrate court sitting in Barnawa,Kaduna south local government area of Kaduna state affirming the electoral victory of the Kaduna state council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),Comrade Asma’u Yawo Halilu,the council wishes to welcome the decision of the court while also dedicating the victory to the union and the entire membership of the council.

” The statement added that there was NO VICTOR NOR VANQUISH,while also stressing the need for members of the Kaduna state council of the Nigeria Union of journalists to bury their differences and work for the progress of the council.

“It further appealed to members of the NUJ to forget the past and unite against common enemies.” the statement added
