By Frederick Peters, KADUNA

NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: The Cathedral Administrator, St Peter Claver’s of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Very Rev Fr. Philip Mugu has admonished the faithful and Nigerians not to despair, but pray as there shall be restoration for Nigeria.

He made this disclosure shortly after ministering at the quarterly All-night vigil of St Andrew’s Catholic church Kakuri, Kaduna on Friday- Saturday, tagged” Waves Of Glory Night, You Shall Recover All ” featuring other guest Intercessory and praise worship ministers among others.

Fr Mugu, said the night vigil was fruitful, ” we thank God for the demonstration of his power in our midst, we thank God for restoration of our people and we pray that God remains God in our lives, and we’ll be calling on him for signs and wonders and for restoration” he said.

He called on the faithful and Nigerians not to despair, but pray ” It’s a time to call upon God, for every generation there’s always a moment of despair but those who have faith in God, those who put their trust in God shall not be put to shame

“and I know that there shall be a new rising for this nation, especially when we cry to God, he will answer us, like the Israelites in the time of Gideon who cried to God and there was restoration; there shall be restoration for our nation” he reiterated.

Similarly, the Pastor of St Andrew’s Catholic Church, Kakuri and Vocations Director, Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna, Rev Fr Lucas Zasan Auta, joyed by the success of the parish quarterly Night vigil program, harped on prayer and hope ” from what we have seen, you certainly know that the people of God are hungry for prayer and we as ministers of the word and sacraments, it behooves on us to make ourselves available for the people of God

” and the moment we take the lead, the people are always willing and ready to follow and with the kind of situation we find ourselves today in our country,”

Fr Auta further said “the message of today, should be a message of hope, thanks be to God, the Holy Father of blessed memory, declared the Jubilee year of hope, pilgrims of hope, so we create moments like this to encourage the people of God, to give them hope and never to give up, because hope never disappoints, because the love of Christ has been poured into our hearts, according to Romans 5:5,”

According to him, the basic essence of organising a program like this, to spend the weekend with the Lord through the night, is to emulate Christ ” Jesus himself prayed during his passion and paschal mystery, we’re told he went to a secluded place and prayed all-night,

” so we are not doing something new, we are not doing anything different form what our master practice and left for us, that’s why we organize this kind of program quarterly in the parish to take the people of God to God, by making sure that their spiritual lives are well fed” he stressed.

On her part, one of the participants at the vigil, from St Anthony pastoral Area, Down quarters, Makera, Kaduna, Sis. Favour Joseph, impressed yet lacking words to express how it feels, simply said, ” It was so good and so nice, I have benefited a lot from it, but I don’t know how to say it, but I will like people to always go to All nights like this” she stated.
