NEWSDAILYNIGERIA: Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State, has ordered for the immediate closure of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, following the loss of lives, due to security breaches in the state.

In a statement signed by the
Secretary To The State Government Abubakar Usman, on
Wednesday, the Governor noted that the indefinite closure of the institution is necessary as the safety of the lives of students and citizens of the state remain top priorities.

” The Governor Of Niger State,Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago Has Directed For The Immediate Closure Of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) Lapai,With Immediate Effect.

” The Closure Of The University Is Till Further Notice.

” Was As The Result Decision To Closed Down The University Was As The Result Of The Recent Security Breaches And The Unfortunate Loss Of Lives Within The University Community.

” The Safety And Security Of The Students And That If The Citizens Remain Top Priorities Of The State Government.

” The Governor Is Deeply Saddened By The Recent Incidents.

” According To The Governor,Swift Measures Are Being Taken To Address The Situation.

” The University Community Are Urged To Remain Calm,Be Vigilant And Cooperate With The Authorities During This Period.

” The Government Is Working Hard To Restore Law And Order In The State.

” And Also Assures The Safety Of The Entire Citizens By Restoring Peace In The
State.

” The Government Also Assures Members Of The Public That Stringent Measures Are Being Taken To Investigate The Cause Of The Security Breaches And Will Decisively Deal With The Perpetrators.
