– Urges CAN to uphold truth at all times

– CAN says nation”s insecurity, worrisome,troubling

NEWSDAILYNIGERIA – The Leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria,(CAN) of 19 Northern States, including Abuja, has paid a  condolence  visit to the family of Elder, Engr. Samuel Salifu to Commiserate with him over the demise of his wife.

The  19 northern states and Abuja CAN chairman,Rev,Dr Yakubu Pam,who led the delegation on saturday expressed the condolences of the Church and good people of the CAN in the region to the elder statesman at his family residence in Kaduna.

He said the bereaved is one of the founding fathers of church and we  must honour him and we must show him that his labour is not in vein,adding that, at a time like this, those who should be around him is the Church where he laboured for,from his youth to this moment

” and so that is the reason why we are here to commiserate with his family and to let the children know that their Father has made sacrifice for the work of God in CAN”

According to him, Elder Samuel Salifu has been one of the few who fought for the region and nation’s democracy, peace and good governance ” and uptill today he’s still strong, he believes Nigeria must continue as one country and remain united and the church has a very big role to play in this regard” he stressed

While describing the deceased as one who has been a compatible companion to her husband and how she would be greatly missed said,”she was a very loving and caring Mother and it’s not easy losing someone you’ve loved all you life ” He then prayed that God will comfort and be with the family at this moment of  loss and beyond.

On the state of insecurity in the country the CAN,says its worrisome and troubling “we are in a troubling and challenging time” with a call on the Federal and state governments,especially, northern Nigeria to stop making ” assurances on the Media and ensure practical assurances ” in ending the manace of insecurity.

CAN further faulted the payment of ransom to kidnappers, saying government should rather enhance its intelligence network to deal with all form of insecurity. He also noted that Amnesty should not be easily ” dashed out as a national cake’,but can be granted only through genuine repentance.

While appreciating the leadership of CAN for the visit and their efforts, the elder statesman,Engr. Samuel Salifu charged them to stand for the truth in the course of carrying out their responsibilities ” holding unto the truth without compromise”

He further lamented the state of the nation,considering the rising insecurity in the land and several challenges bedevilling the country noting that, all is not well with the country, hence the need to do the needful.

He described his late wife as a very good woman who had the tenacity of wisdom by God in helping the family,couple with a special gift of building a Christian home.

On his part, Very Rev. Father Andrew Dodo,the treasurer, CAN Northern Nigeria, maintained that the bereaved has been someone he has known for over four decades and has been a member of the founding Fathers of Northern CAN having served as General Secretary “he’s one of those who were the brain behind the setting up of northern CAN, in collaboration with late Archbishop P.Y Jatau of blessed memory

” So it was just right that as he lost his beloved, wife, so it has become important that we should come to show our respect and to collectively sympathize with them and condole with him as a body and that’s why coming here is so imperative ” he added

On her part, the Chairperson Women wing CAN Northern States and Abuja,Mrs Elizabeth Ajegena, said the visit is an expression of love and peace to the family ” we want to condole and comfort him and advise him to have peace because such as thing is not easy, for him to lose a dear wife”

According to her ” losing her is a great loss to us, we the mothers,there’s nothing we can do than to be praying for her and the family that the grace of God will continue to cater for the family, especially the children and Baba; we will carry them along because it is not easy” she reiterated
