NEWSDAILYNIIGERIA: In an effort to end hunger in Southern Kaduna Senatorial District, a Non- governmental Organisation, When In Need Foundation (WIN), organized a lecture titled ‘The Challenges of Southern Kaduna and the Need for Foreign Aid,’ and distributed varieties of improved modern seedlings to 10 Chiefdoms in order to fight hunger through improved productivity.

The event which took place on Friday at the Kpop Ham residence, Jaba LGA of Kaduna state, is first of its kind in Southern Kaduna, as it had in attendance most of the custodians of cultures in the district.

While declaring the event open, the host, Dr. Danladi Gyet Maude, noted that the foundation, WIN has done a lot to Southern Kaduna.

“The NGO has been doing a lot of good to Southern Kaduna, and it is one of that occasion that made her ( the Founder) to become the “Tir Wywiin of the Ham Land,” he said..

On his part,  the guest speaker Prof. I.K Auta, noted that Southern Kaduna is not only affected by artificial challenges, but also the internal ones.

He observed that there are factors that are bedeviling us, which are the reasons why the Senatorial District is not growing, and they range from disrespect, land dispute, lack of mentorship, drug and alcohol, and the host of others.

Auta, therefore called on WIN to create other means of sensitizing the people of the District.

“Your foundation should create another time, to bring us together to sensitize, enlighten us of the need for us to be united, the need for us to love ourselves that will bring about community development and capacity building,” he pointed out.

He further called on the good people of Southern Kaduna that are well -to-do, to emulate what the foundation has done.

Speaking to journalists on why she embarked on such project, the CEO, WIN foundation Dr.  Chetachi Ecton said, she wants to at least reduce hunger, even if she cannot totally eliminate it.

“I tell people that I do this because I’m doing my little bit of good in the world and I’m trying to help somehow decrease hunger, especially here in Southern Kaduna and all over Nigeria.

“I have done this same projects in about three different states here in Nigeria but this is my home , so I came home to do the same, and double my efforts”  Chetachi added.

She therefore advised the beneficiaries not to eat what were given to them, instead, they should plant, because the more they plant, they more they will have enough afterwards.

The seedlings distributed to the 10 Communities include rice, soya beans, maize, okra, yam and beans.

Recall that  ‘When in Need (WIN) Foundation’ together with its sister foundation ‘ Every Life Matters Humanitarian Foundation’  had previously embarked on so many humanitarian services in more than 30 states in Nigeria.
