This Is How It’s Announced If A Pope Dies

(1) The Camerlengo who is a Cardinal is the first person to be notified/contacted if not sure whether the Pope is alive or dead.
(2) The Camerlengo goes to the sick bed of the Pope. He calls the Pope by his Baptismal name three (3) times.
(3) When the Pope does not respond,
he is pronounced dead

(4) There is no autopsy needed, no death certificate needed.
(5) The Camerlengo cuts off the Papal ring ie, the Peter’s ring thus ending the Pope’s Papacy.
(6) The first person that must be informed is the Cardinal Vicar, followed with the Dean of College of Cardinals.
Next to be informed is the ambassador of the Holy See, next is the head of Missions to tell the world.
Any information about the death of the Pope outside this procedure should be disregarded.

If confirmed that the Pope is dead, the following procedure takes place :
(a) Funeral period of 4 to 6 days is observed.
(b) Conclave to elect a successor commences after 15 days.
(d) All Cardinals below the age of 80 years are eligible to participate in the conclave where they will elect one of them.
(e) The election takes place at the Sisten Chapel begining with a Mass.
